As an adult Celia Campbell performed good works. She was co-founder of the House of Rest, a home for orphans too young to be admitted to the Charleston Orphan House. In her childhood portrait by Charles Fraser Celia is shown with her pet dog. Her portrait is  restful and simple. As in the other two portraits of the Campbell children by Fraser, the variegated sky is slightly cross-hatched and the figure is vividly stippled.
