Walter Greer is a native South Carolinian who lives and  works on Hilton Head Island. Greer earned a B.S. from The Citadel in 1942, and a B.S. from Clemson University. In 1960, he studied at the Atlanta School of Art with painter Ben Shute. In New York City, he attended the National Academy of Design as a student of Robert Phillipp. Pond-Grey Phase is from his signature “pond series” inspired by the seasonal changes of this natural environment.
